- Each student begins with 10 points at the start of each lesson.
- Wrong rhythm means a point deduction for that piece. Each piece with incorrect rhythm equals a point deduction.
- Incorrect fingering is a deduction in each piece this occurs.
- Fishing for or guessing notes means a deduction.
- Forgetting books = -1
- Forgetting the assignment sheet = -1
- Not marking in practice = -1
- False starts = -1
- Wrong articulation = -1
- Technique unprepared = -1 for each element
Bonus marks for:
- counting aloud
- naming the opening notes and fingers
- memorizing 4 - 8 measures (depends on level of study)
- memorized correct fingering in technique
- putting in dynamics
- listing terms and providing an explanation
- using the metronome and providing a speed used
- chunk practice
- observing phrases
