  • Each student begins with 10 points at the start of each lesson.
  • Wrong rhythm means a point deduction for that piece. Each piece with incorrect rhythm equals a point deduction.
  • Incorrect fingering is a deduction in each piece this occurs.
  • Fishing for or guessing notes means a deduction.
  • Forgetting books = -1
  • Forgetting the assignment sheet = -1
  • Not marking in practice = -1
  • False starts = -1
  • Wrong articulation = -1
  • Technique unprepared = -1 for each element

Bonus marks for:

  • counting aloud
  • naming the opening notes and fingers
  • memorizing 4 - 8 measures (depends on level of study)
  • memorized correct fingering in technique
  • putting in dynamics
  • listing terms and providing an explanation
  • using the metronome and providing a speed used
  • chunk practice
  • observing phrases
