Meet Teresa!

Teresa brings over 15 years of teaching experience that include piano, violin and voice.

I began playing violin and piano at a very young age. I was encouraged to perform as often as possible. I believe it helps develop confidence and composure in difficult situations. As an individual with ADHD I work well with kids who are hyperactive and struggle to stay focused. My son has Tourette’s syndrome and other developmental delays. I home-schooled him when he required it. It taught me even more patience and how to recognize when there’s a difficulty understanding a concept. I change my approach as necessary to create a relaxed and encouraging environment. I’ve also worked in group resident homes as a support aid for the disabled. These experiences have all contributed to helping me  teach a wide range of individuals and have success in spite of other challenges they may be working through. Learning music is about more than just playing an instrument. It’s about developing character, tenacity, discipline, dedication, and a greater understanding of oneself and what’s inside.

Growing up and through my adult years I’ve pursued many different hobbies and interests. I immersed myself in mixed martial arts a few different times, went to school and got an education in personal training and still am quite involved in breaking, training and riding horses. I competed  at an amateur and professional level in both boxing and mixed martial arts.
